Grammy Results 2023
This past Sunday, CBS’s 65th annual Grammy Awards 2023 made history with the crowning of Beyoncé as its undisputed queen after garnering more wins than any other artist in Grammys’ long-standing tenure. Furthermore, Kim Petras became the first transgender woman to ever be awarded a golden gramophone; truly an amazing feat!
Harry Styles’ success was prominent at the awards ceremony when he received Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance for his song “Harry’s House”, while other artists each reigned victorious too. The evening also commemorated 50 years of hip-hop, lauding past accomplishments as well as looking toward future successes in music.
Beyonce continues to break records with her ninth nomination and an impressive total of 88 career nominations. Her highly acclaimed album ‘Renaissance’ is nominated for the Album of the Year award, standing alongside Adele’s 30, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, ABBA’s first new material in 40 years – Voyage which sadly being their last ever release – Mary J. Blige Good Morning Gorgeous, Harry Styles’ Harry House, Lizzo Special and Coldplay Music of Spheres among others!
This year seems to have been a controversial one for the Recording Academy: Silk Sonic, Drake, and The Weeknd all requested their names be taken out of consideration for different reasons. While Taylor Swift’s critically-acclaimed Midnights didn’t quite meet the Academy’s criteria, her “All Too Well (10-Minute Version) (The Short Film)” was nominated for Song of the Year — proof that she still reigns triumphant despite this setback.
Having left his day job at The Daily Show for more of this experience – standing on stage and delivering quips – Trevor Noah returned as host for his third consecutive year. Having already mastered the art of being a Grammys emcee, he has definitely picked up some tips along the way.
